Custom Duty & Clearance / Taxes / Penalties / Any Other

Most international shipments are required to go through a customs clearance procedure. When this happens, a clearance delay may occur which slows down the clearance process and delivery of the goods.

Some Destination Countries accept a value of Rs 25,000 per consignment of personal goods. However, this is at the sole discretion of the concerned custom authorities based on the type of goods, origin country, the value and quantity.

We are not responsible for any such delays as it is beyond our control.

  • The calculation of custom duties depends, in most countries, on the assessable value of a dutiable parcel. For the purpose of this calculation, dutiable goods are given a classification code that is known as the HS Code (Harmonized System code), which determines the applicable duty rate.
  • This system is a multipurpose international product nomenclature developed by the World Customs Organization and continues to evolve.
  • All types of parcels (including samples, gifts, goods for repair etc.,) go through an import clearance process as determined by custom’s regulations in the destination country. The parcel is cleared through customs based on the type of goods, origin country, the value and quantity.
  • Dutiable shipments are subject to a customs duty, which is called as a tariff or tax imposed on goods when transported across international borders.

Duties and taxes are levied by Customs in the destination country and the Consignee or Receiver is responsible for paying them.

The payment of duties and taxes are typically the responsibility of the Consignee or Receiver.

The customs authorities in the destination country determine whether any duties and taxes are applicable when the parcel arrives.

Every country has limitations pertaining to imported goods for personal use. This is to avoid misuse, and to distinguish imports for personal and commercial use.

After detaining of the parcel by the custom authorities, normally, most of our Logistics Partners will hold the parcel/ shipment up to 3-4 working days. If there is no action or information / clarification available by either sender or recipient, then the parcel will be RTO, & all the costs for RTO will have to be borne by the Sender.
