Prohibited medicines for international courier services typically include pharmaceuticals that are controlled substances, require special handling, or are subject to strict regulations.

  • Narcotics and Controlled Substances: Medications containing narcotics or controlled substances, such as opioids (e.g., morphine, oxycodone), benzodiazepines (e.g., diazepam, alprazolam), and stimulants (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin), are prohibited due to legal restrictions and the potential for abuse.
  • Psychotropic Medications: Drugs used to treat mental health conditions, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers, may be subject to restrictions.
  • Prescription Medications without Documentation: All countries require prescriptions or medical documentation for the importation of prescription medications. Shipping prescription drugs without proper documentation is prohibited.
  • Biological Products and Vaccines: Biological medicines, vaccines, and other biological products are subject to strict regulations and require specialized handling, storage, and transportation conditions.
  • Radiopharmaceuticals: Medications containing radioactive isotopes or used for nuclear imaging procedures are subject to strict regulations due to their radioactive properties and potential health risks and hence are prohibited.
  • Hormonal Medications: Hormone replacement therapy medications, birth control pills, and other hormonal treatments may be subject to restrictions or require medical documentation for international shipment.
  • Experimental or Investigational Drugs: Drugs that are still in the experimental or investigational stages of development are prohibited for international shipment due to safety concerns and regulatory restrictions.
  • Animal-Derived Medications: Medications derived from animal sources, such as insulin or certain vaccines, may be subject to restrictions or require additional documentation for international shipment.
  • Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medications with Restrictions: Some over-the-counter medications, such as certain cold and flu remedies, pain relievers, and allergy medications, may be subject to restrictions or dosage limits in certain countries.
  • Medications with High Potential for Misuse or Abuse: Certain medications with a high potential for misuse, abuse, or addiction, such as sedatives, muscle relaxants, and cough suppressants containing codeine, are prohibited / restricted.
